On 3-7 March, the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies hosted lectures, events, workshops and practical sessions during the International Teaching Week. The Faculty was bustling with students, teachers and guests from different foreign countries.
The opening celebration of the International Teaching Week started with songs and good mood. The participants and foreign guests were greeted by Evelina Dubauskaitė, Karolina Bimbaitė, Gerda Tamulytė and Toma Pauraitė, students of the Musical Theatre programme, who presented a variety of musical works, complemented by the excellent accompaniment of the pianist lecturer, Nijolė Baranauskaitė. The students were prepared by their teachers, assoc. prof. Babilaite-Abarė and assoc. prof. Eglė Juozapaitienė.
Manuel Federico Cordella, owner of the Istituto Cordella Fashion School (Italy), model designer, lecturer in fashion design, and manager Indre Matutyte-Cordella gave a lecture on “Management of Fashion Business”, during which they presented the creative activities of the fashion school to the large number of students, gave an overview of the fashion events and the latest fashion trends in Italy. In addition, to observing the creative processes of modelling, the students were also able to learn different techniques of garment layout and successfully apply them to their own creative ideas. It is very pleasing that this cooperation with the Istituto Cordella Fashion School has been going on for four years now.
During the International Teaching Week, the students of the Dance Pedagogy study programme deepened their knowledge of jazz dance and hip hop dance styles. The lectures were given by Olga Spridzane and Kristina Tumakova from the Latvian Academy of Culture. In the jazz dance lectures, students got acquainted with the peculiarities of the technique, performance and methodology of this style, learned and performed choreographies created by Olga Spridzane, one of which was lyrical, and the other was fast-paced and adventurous, based on the mood of a musical. In hip hop dance lectures students deepened knowledge of technique, analysed teaching methods, improvised with movements of this style, performed choreographies created by Kristina Tumakova.
The Department of Cultural Management and Dance Pedagogy hosted a lecturer from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. Radmila Segol gave a lecture on the relevance of digital media, communication and innovative advertising technologies to future cultural activity managers and fashion technologists. According to Amelia Basiul, a 2nd year student of the Cultural Activity Management study programme, the material presented in the lecture made her think about how innovations are being created rapidly, in a complex environment, and how they make people’s lives significantly easier. “I was particularly impressed by the mobile application Diia, developed by Ukrainians, which allows you to conveniently store all the most important personal documents on your phone: passport, education certificates, driving licence, etc. The app is really worthy of attention because it saves people’s time and provides convenience. The lecture was very useful and I learnt a lot of interesting facts about digital media – it helped me to better understand how digital technologies are changing our everyday lives and encouraged me to be even more interested in innovations that can make our lives easier,” says the student.
Lecturers of the Department of Rhythmic Music – foreign guests Evilena Protektore (Latvia), Fabrizio Cucco (St. Louis College of Music, Italy), Jaak Sooäär (Estonian Academy of Music and Theater, Estonia), Toms Rudzinskis (JVLMA (Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, Latvia), Manuel La Puca (St. Frederic Borey, Stephane Adsuar (France), Giovanni Candia (Italy) were eager to share their professional knowledge and experience with the students and guests, as well as to lead the workshop “Improvisation for Everyone”.
On 6 March, The Tamsta Club hosted a jazz music concert of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution lecturers and students and invited guests, which has become a traditional and integral part of the cultural programme of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution International Teaching Week. It was a part of the festival’s cultural programme. The concert was supervised by assoc. prof. Pranas Kentra.
On 7 March, a gala concert was held to close the 17th International Teaching Week of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution. The concert was a traditional concert “The Wind of Freedom”, organised by the community of the Performing Arts Department of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies, dedicated to the Lithuanian Independence Restoration Day. The community and guests of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution gathered in large numbers at the Central Hall of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution to celebrate this momentous occasion, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Assoc. prof. Dalia Babilaitė-Abarė, the author and director of the script of the concert invited the audience to experience Lithuania: to feel the beauty of nature, to remember the painful historical and contemporary hardships, to experience, reflect and cherish the greatest treasure – Freedom.
