On 18 September 2024, the seventh International Piano Concertmaster’s Conference was held remotely for the seventh time, attracting a great deal of attention each time, and was dedicated to the concertmasters of the country’s art and music schools, conservatories and academies who wish to improve their professional skills, understand the specifics of this work and gain significant methodological and practical experience.

Alongside specialists from abroad and Lithuania, the presentation “Peculiarities of performing the musical genre. The role of the concert pianist in creating the dramaturgical line of the character” was presented by the lecturer of the Performing Arts Department of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution, Nijolė Baranauskaitė-Matukonienė, and the associate professor of the Performing Arts Department Dalia Babilaitė – Abarė.

The professional knowledge and insights of the lecturers were illustrated by the speaker Nijolė Baranauskaitė – Matukonienė herself. The pianist shared her many years of experience as a concertmaster by accompanying the students of the Musical Theatre studies programme – Kamila Smaidžiūnaitė, Saula Grumodaitė, Lukrecija Vasiliauskaitė and graduate Deimanta Varmauskaitė, who performed excerpts from musicals of different styles and periods. The young performers, trained by associate professor Dalia Babilaitė – Abarė, demonstrated the competences acquired during their studies in a particularly professional manner.

It was great to see that the large number of educators who attended the conference shared their praises and warm wishes for the presenters online.
