Salomėja Pakerytė, a first-year student of the Musical theatre study programme, participated in the German-Scandinavian music week in Scheersberg, Germany. About 120 people from different European countries gather for the music week. They have to prepare a choral and orchestral programme which is performed in two huge concerts at the end of the week.

The biggest part of the participants’ day was occupied by the intensive, but extremely fun and useful choir rehearsals led by Conductor Friederike’s Woebcken. Mika Eichenholz – the leader and conductor of the orchestra, shining with enthusiasm, shared good energy with the participants throughout the week.

In addition to the two big concerts, three smaller ones were also held, during which the musicians performed self-prepared performances in which they revealed a part of themselves and their country’s culture. Salomėja and her colleagues from Lithuania performed specially prepared pieces by Lithuanian composers M.K. Čiurlionis, V. Augustinas and the song “Schedryk” composed by Ukrainian composer M. Leontovich.

Salomėja was greatly impressed by the warmth, openness, friendliness and musicality of the musicians and managers, without which this week would not have been so special. The evenings were devoted to dances, songs, improvisational music, and of course, warm and sincere communication. A week in Scheersberg brought a burst of new music, impressions, happiness and inspiration to play music.
