On 21 – 24 November, 2018 The Dean of Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences of Arts and Creative Technologies, Prof. Dr. Birutė Žygaitienė and Head of the Department of Fashion Design, lecturer Silvija Grušnienė attended the 15th ELIA Biennial Conference ‘Resilience and the City: Art, Education, Urbanism’ in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
ELIA – European League of Institutes of the Arts. The ELIA network connects more than 300 members in 47 countries. Vilniaus Kolegija/ University of Applied Sciences is also a member of this network. ELIA organizes annual conferences that assembles a large number of stakeholders. The 15th ELIA Biennial Conference set out to examine how the arts can play a vital role in building resilience, especially in an urban context. The presentations and keynotes during the conference addressed the topic of resilience and the city via the four subthemes: Shifting Centre, Shifting Margins; Art and Social Cohesion; Art and Economy; and Art and Innovation. At the conference participated 460 delegates, high-profile speakers and presenters from different countries of the world.
Prof. Birutė Žygaitienė and Silvija Grušnienė presented the study programs in Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences and also the report ‘Social responsibility and art projects in the University of Applied Sciences Vilniaus Kolegija‘.
