Art Project “Under the Church Vaults” at the International Festival

For the third time, the art project “Under the Vaults of the Church”, in cooperation with Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution and the Rokiškis Culture Centre, was invited to join the XXV International Organ Music Festival dedicated to the Czech musician, pedagogue and organist Rudolf Lyman. This year, the festival, which has constantly changed, grown and developed, celebrates 25 years. It has grown from a one-day festival to a multi-week, large-scale project. Since 2002, the festival has been under the patronage of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius, and since 2017 – of the Dean of the Rokiškis Parish, E. Novik, thanks to whom the project has highlighted the importance of the dissemination of sacred art. The 25th year of the festival’s organisation testifies to the high cultural and artistic value of this phenomenon, as it is attended by the best organists, soloists, choirs, ensembles, and orchestras in Lithuania and Europe.

14 years of the project’s conception and artistic director Dalia Babilaitė – Abarė, associate professor at the Performing Arts Department of Vilniaus Kolegija / Higher Education Institution, and Nijolė Baranauskaitė – Matukonienė, a lecturer and regular collaborator of the project, pianist, along with students and graduates of the Musical Theatre study programme, presented a concert “Under the Vaults of the Church. I Bear Witness to the Faith” to the audience of the St Casimir’s Church in the small cultural capital of Kamajai in 2024. The concert featured the most beautiful sacred and secular music from different periods (from academic to popular music of our time) or composed by the artists themselves, with meaningful texts, whose main mission is the search for God, light, and the answers to the most important existential questions for man. The students were prepared for the concert by associate professors Dalia Babilaitė – Abarė, Eglė Juozapaitienė and lecturer Nijolė Baranauskaitė – Matukonienė.

The whole creative team is especially grateful for such a warm welcome and spiritual communion during the event.
