During the first week of March Vilniaus kolegija/ University of Applied Sciences organized annual International (Teaching) Week (IW). This year IW hosted lecturers from 20 countries.

During International Week (IW) opening we welcomed participants from more than 20 countries. IW – an initiative that has already become a tradition, attracting more and more foreign lecturers who want to share knowledge with VIKO students and exchange experiences with colleagues from all over the world.

We are delighted with the International Week events at the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies. This year we had nine participants from seven European countries who shared their best experience with faculty students and lecturers.

Students of the Musical Theater, Popular Music and Management of Cultural Activities, Fashion Design, Fashion Technologies and Business, Image Design study programmes had the unique opportunity to participate in interesting theoretical lectures, mastery courses, individual lectures, creative workshops and other. The lectures were given by experienced lecturers.

Marta Ipczynska-Budziak and Natalia Mrozkowiak (Poland) – Graphic design and Typography class. Re-creation art – creative strategy.

Michaela Skalova and Renata Vyskocilova (Czech Republik) – Creative Workshops of Hairstyling. Creative Workshop – How To Make a Fake Wound?

Brett David Finbar (Italy) – The Linguistic Analysis of Pop Song Lyrics.

Andrejs Jevsjukovs (Latvia) – Ensemble masterclass.

Natalija Piskunova (Belarus) – Dance Therapy. Find your way. How dance helps you find yourself and interact with others.

Liina Saar (Estonia) – Vocal Masterclasses and Improvisation.

Frederic Borey (France) – Butterflies trio.

Gunnsteinn Ólafsson – Icelandic conductor of orchestra, musical ensembles and opera. He is the founder of the Siglufjörður Folk Festival and the Iceland Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2000, Gunnsteinn established a Folk Music Festival in his native town, Siglufjörður, where Icelandic folk music (is) has been emphasized as well as music from other countries. In 2006 he established a Folk Music Centre in Siglufjörður with video recordings he produced with Langmark Film of people performing Icelandic folk music. (Gunnsteinn also performed Icelandic folk songs himself for foreigners in Iceland since 1982 and at festivals abroad). Gunnsteinn himself has also performed Icelandic folk songs for foreigners in Iceland since 1982 and at festivals abroad. Students of Vilniaus Kolegija/ University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies Music Theater study programme intend to participate in this festival in the framework of the project “Icelandic language: The Etnic Process (IcLEP)”, where they will present the original performance.

After the lectures, the guests had (the) an opportunity to get acquainted with Lithuanian culture by testing line and folk dances, visiting the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, the Old Town of Vilnius and Trakai.

We are also very proud of our faculty student(’s) performances at the opening and closing events of the International Week. Amazing students’ voices enchanted all participants from nearly 20 countries.
